INSURANCE MANAGEMENT SEMINAR 2011

'The Shifting Landscape' Seminar was held on 15 November 2011 in Auckland. Eight expert speakers addressed a wide range of issues from reinsurance through to the Rugby World Cup.

We heard from Heinrich Eder, Chief Executive of Munich Re, that reinsurers still have a risk appetite for New Zealand, although terms and pricing will undoubtedly change.

Roger Sutton, Chief Executive of CERA, gave a fascinating insight into the issues around the re-build of Canterbury and also had some advice for insurers.

Bill Bartlett gave his traditional thoughtful analysis of global insurance and issues that will be impacting the industry in the coming years.

Bernard Hickey, one of New Zealand's leading economic commentators, gave his authoritative overview of the global economic situation and sobering insight into the potential economic future for New Zealand.

The CEO's forum heard from three of the leading CEO members of the Insurance Council in an interesting hour of questions and answers, in a session moderated by Bill Bartlett. This was worth the admission price alone.

Vaughn Davis, a social media commentator, gave an entertaining view of social media and the relevance for the business community.

Matthew Hooton provided a challenging analysis of the coming election and Keith Quinn rounded out the day with an entertaining and thoroughly informative summary of the Rugby World Cup experience from 1987 through to the victory at Eden Park on 23 October 2011.

For those who missed the presentations, then sadly you missed a great day of valuable information, analysis and entertainment; however, there is always next year. Look for information about next years seminar on this website early in the new year. Some of the speaker's presentations are available below as down loadable PDF files.
